Supporting the next generation

Recently members of the Barr Planning team have been paying it forward to the next generation, providing high-school students their advice and guidance on career choices.
Senior Planner Sam, was recently invited to participate in an Architecture and Engineering Careers Expo for Years 9-12 students at his former high school William Clarke College. Through a series of Q&A sessions, students learnt about architecture, engineering, the built environment and development industry. Sam had the chance to introduce students to the town planning profession and the exciting opportunities to work with other allied design professionals. He commented that it was a great opportunity to give back to the school and invest in future of the next generation.
Rebecca, the Barr Planning Director and Planning Manager also was recently asked to judge the Property Council’s ‘Girls in Property’ presentations provided by Hunter River High School.  The standard of the presentations were extremely high, a testament to the girls dedication to the task of understanding a brief, brainstorming a unique and creation solution and then presenting a professional pitch to the judging panel, the school executive and their peers.
As an industry leader and mentor, Rebecca commented that it was encouraging to see the high level of interest in the program and property careers by the students, along with the commitment by the Property Council of Australia in running this innovative Program.
Barr Planning is proud to be supporting the next generation, providing valuable insights, mentorships and hands-on experiences to pave their path towards a rewarding career in shaping the spaces we live in.
