The applications were for the installation of static electronic displays (SEDs) to contain third party advertising to remain in situ for at least 15 years. The main issues to consider with these projects were:
- Traffic impacts as these signs are situated prominently along road corridors
- Illumination of signage and the effects on surrounding neighbours
Newcastle and Singleton signage applications were approved under delegation by their respective Councils. The signage in Armidale was approved by the Councillors which was required due to a Clause 4.6 that was required to vary a provision in the State Environmental Planning Policy No 64 – Advertising and Signage.
