The approved redevelopment of Hungerford Hill facilitates alterations and additions to existing cellar door and restaurant, an increase to the existing winery production and storage capacity and provides a brand new function centre. The facility will double the winery’s production capacity from its existing operations and will have a seating capacity of 550 people.
The design for the new premises utilises off-form concrete walls and includes a rounded glass awning protruding from the existing cellar door which complements the architectural character of the existing building. The new premises provides an outdoor covered children’s play area with Danpalon sheeting for both weather protection and natural light penetration. Terraced landscaping extends from the existing cellar door in a radial pattern and will comprise native gardens, tiled surfaces, and rammed earth retaining walls. The use of native gardens, rammed earth, weathering steel, and hardwoods will complement the natural environment and surrounds and contribute to the unique character of the Hunter Valley’s wine region.
