Leading Edge Data Centres are a telecommunications network of data centres proposed to be rolled out across metropolitan and regional areas of New South Wales. The data centres provide additional computing platform in a centralised geographic location to permit faster data transfer between the user and the cloud.
Our role in this project included providing initial planning advice, preparation of the development application documentation including the Statement of Environmental Effects, project management and subconsultant co-ordination and liaison with City of Newcastle throughout the assessment.
Project challenges including working with the Council, client and sub consultants to articulate and develop a new built form and land use typology. Additional considerations pertinent to the development included security of the site, connections to electricity and communications networks and complying with the unique development controls in the Steel River Industrial Precinct.
