Congratulations to our Senior Planner, Katrina Walker on receiving her certificate for Social Impact Assessment.

The certificate represents completion of the short course in best social impact assessment (SIA) practice which will enhance Barr Planning’s current practice and methodology. Extending on the foundations of SIA practice, the course provided an in depth discussion on impact analysis on communities, particularly vulnerable communities that are more susceptible to adverse impacts and enhancing positive impacts.

It provided a current overview of the leading practice related to social impact assessment of Energy, Oil & Gas, Mining, Infrastructure projects that is consistent with IAIA’s International Principles for SIA, Guidance for SIA, IFC Environmental and Social Performance Standards, Good International Industry Practice (GIIP) and the United Nations Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights.

Completion of this course ensures that Barr Planning is up to date with SIA best practice techniques. It provides the business the skills to proficiently identify and assess social impacts and identify mitigation measures and ongoing monitoring.
