Congratulations to our Associate Principal Planner, Rob Dwyer, on receiving his certificate for Social Impact Assessment!

Barr Planning congratulates Rob Dwyer on the successful completion of his Certificate in Social Impact Assessment with the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA).

The certificate recognises completion of specialist training in best-practice Social Impact Assessment (SIA), strengthening Barr Planning’s capability to assess and respond to the social impacts of development on communities. The course builds on core SIA principles and provides contemporary approaches to impact identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring, with a strong emphasis on achieving positive social outcomes and reducing adverse effects.

Social Impact Assessment focuses on understanding how development influences people and communities and draws on related practice areas including public participation and community engagement, health impact assessment, Indigenous peoples and traditional knowledge, cultural heritage and resettlement. Together, these disciplines support a holistic, people-centred approach to development, ensuring projects promote wellbeing, inclusion and sustainable outcomes across the project lifecycle.
