Barr Planning Attends Property Council Event Exploring the Future of Newcastle Quay

Barr Planning Director & Strategic Lead, Planning & Business Development, Stephen Barr recently attended the Property Council’s Transforming our City: The Final Page in the Honeysuckle Story event alongside Kellie Hassab, Director & Manager NSW from Beveridge Williams, joining industry professionals to hear firsthand about one of Newcastle’s most significant urban renewal projects.

The event provided valuable insights into the vision, planning and collaboration behind Newcastle Quay – the transformative redevelopment of the former Honeysuckle Headquarters site. With a proposed investment of approximately $1.6 billion, the project is set to reshape Newcastle’s west end, delivering new housing, employment opportunities, public spaces and destination-making amenity within an integrated mixed-use precinct.

The session explored the strategic planning, commercial considerations and collaborative partnerships required to deliver a project of this scale, highlighting the important role that planning plays in creating vibrant, connected and sustainable cities.
