Strengthening Technical Understanding: Lunch & Learn with Groundswell Engineers
At Barr Planning, we are committed to fostering continuous learning and professional development across our team. Our regular Lunch & Learn sessions provide an opportunity to deepen our technical knowledge and strengthen collaboration across disciplines.
This month, we were pleased to welcome Andrew Brown, Director of Groundswell Engineers, who joined our Planning Team to share insights from his extensive experience in civil and environmental engineering.
Andrew provided a practical overview of key engineering documentation that planners regularly encounter, including:
- Erosion and sediment control plans
- Stormwater management plans
- Vehicle swept path analysis
The session focused on building confidence in interpreting these complex plans and understanding their role in the planning process.
A key takeaway for our team was the importance of accurate plan referencing, ensuring that the most up-to-date and relevant documentation is used throughout a project lifecycle, highlighting how advancements in technology are continuing to transform the engineering field, influencing both design processes and project delivery outcomes. Andrew also shared insights into the growth of Groundswell Engineers, which he co-founded approximately 17 months ago. Since its establishment, the firm has rapidly developed a strong and specialised team, delivering services across civil engineering, environmental engineering, stormwater management, and infrastructure planning.
