Barr Planning had the pleasure of hosting the Leading Agenda, our bi-annual event in partnership with the University of Newcastle, Newcastle Business School.
With the theme for this event’s being ‘Stories of success from Hunter Business Leaders’ we were thrilled to invite industry leaders Mark Fitzgibbon, CEO of NIB, and Justin Hales, Founder of Camplify. Mark and Justin both shared their invaluable insights and knowledge on navigating and succeeding within the professional landscape of business management in the Hunter region.
A couple of key takeaways from the speakers were…

• Mark Fitzgibbon emphasised, “Smart is cool always in education and leadership,” highlighting the perpetual value of continuous learning and intelligent decision-making in leadership.
• Justin Hales underlined, “The importance of a shared vision for the success of a business,” reminding us that alignment and collective goals are critical for driving an organisation forward.

Following the guest presentation, our director Rebecca Johnston held a panel discussion with MBA students and alumni Josh Lawlor, Lauren Eyles, and Lauren Marks. Individually they provided their educated perspectives on leadership based on their experiences within their respective fields. Their contributions added depth and diversity to the discussions, enriching the event for all attendees.
