Barr Planning extends a warm congratulations to Joan Corinna, who last week celebrated her graduation from Western Sydney University – marking the formal completion of her Bachelor of Planning.

Joan joined Barr Planning in March this year as a Planner, bringing with her a passion for creating well-designed, inclusive, and resilient communities. A key reflection on her studies was the practical grounding in urban development that helped shape her dedication to the planning profession. Joan has a strong interest in shaping urban spaces that improve social quality of life and contribute to better-planned cities and towns.

Since joining Barr Planning, Joan has quickly become a valuable member of our team. She has embraced the opportunity to translate her academic knowledge into practice, working across a range of planning projects.

Reflecting on her transition from university to professional life, Joan shared:

“My recent graduate-to-work transition has been a journey of growth and discovery – I’m continuously building my capabilities through real-world exposure and ongoing learning. These opportunities are helping me grow into a planner who can respond to community needs and deliver thoughtful, well-considered solutions in complex situations. My degree has equipped me with a strong foundation of the NSW Planning system and Barr Planning has been instrumental in allowing me to apply this knowledge within a practical urban planning context. As I continue to deepen my knowledge and experience in delivering optimal planning outcomes for communities, I am grateful for Stephen, Rebecca and each member of the Barr Planning team for their support and for this great opportunity to enhance my skills and advance my career goals as a Town Planner.”
