Barr Planning was proud to support the Property Council of Australia’s recent lunch, Broadmeadow’s Moment: Unlocking Regional Growth Through Precinct Renewal, as a Corporate Prize Sponsor. The event brought together government, industry, and community leaders to discuss the future of Broadmeadow and the opportunities that lie ahead for Greater Newcastle.
The NSW Government is finalising its state-led rezoning of the precinct, paving the way for one of the most significant urban renewal projects outside metropolitan Sydney. New planning controls will enable:
- Up to 20,000 new homes for 40,000 people
- 15,000 jobs
- Improved transportation and community green spaces
- A vibrant, connected hub for the Hunter
The Hunter Central Coast Development Corporation (HCCDC) has been announced as the delivery co-ordination agency, tasked with supporting the long-term transformation of Broadmeadow. Rezoning of the first four government-owned sites marks the beginning of a 30-year renewal program that will redefine how the precinct serves its community.
