Reflecting on Impact and Aligning for the Future
Our team came together for our annual Barr Planning Team Day – a deliberate pause to reflect, celebrate progress and align for the year ahead.
The day provided an opportunity to review the past year, recognising the breadth of projects delivered and the positive social impacts our work continues to deliver across the communities we help shape. As we move beyond our 10-year milestone, we also acknowledged the growth of the business over the past decade and the vision and values that have remained strong, aligned and consistent throughout that journey.
With this foundation, our focus turned to 2026. 
Together, we aligned around key goals, defined clear strategies and identified the practical actions required to achieve them. A dedicated team training session centred on problem-solving and solutions-focused outcomes reinforced the mindset that underpins the way we approach complex planning challenges.
A highlight of the day was our site visit to Black Rock Motor Park, which provided valuable real-world insight into the delivery of complex post-mining development projects. The visit provided valuable real-world insight into how complex post-mining development sites are assessed, approved and delivered, reinforcing the importance of strategic thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration in planning practice. We extend our thanks to Tony Palmer and the project team for hosting us on-site and sharing the vision for the project.
Bringing together our Sydney and Newcastle teams in one setting created a strong sense of alignment, connection and shared purpose. The day was both thoughtful and energising – a reminder that investing time in reflection, training and forward planning strengthens our capability and enhances the quality of outcomes we deliver for our clients and communities.
